Watershed project
Overview:
This project profiles our local watershed, from beginnings in the mountains, through stream monitoring, to aqua farming, and eventually to the ocean. Students will identify and research different problems facing the watershed, and work to provide solutions to these issues. Students will research the area using samples they and others have collected, and learn to analyze a watershed qualitatively and quantitatively. |
In this project I have joined the 4th grade team. In the 4th grade team we get to build project that help the 4th graders understand the problems about pollution and urban run off. When you leave trash on the floor and it rains it runs down and it ends up some how in a river and the creates pollution in the rivers. Pollution is bad for living things in the ocean. In Escondido the class went to Escondido creek water shed they told the class about what chemicals that end up in the water when it rains. Most of the chemicals that form in the water are bad for most of the living animals and plants in the ocean. One main animal that they focused on was the steal head trout. For this project we could create our own project that would be displayed in the elementary school when this project is over. My idea for one of the displays was that we can make a big puzzle piece with most of the plants and animals from the Escondido water creek. With little facts on the back that help the kids understand the watershed project more. My partner that is helping me with my idea is Dominic Flores. Dominic Flores can be a big help sometimes other times he just kind of wonders off and not even help me with the project and that can be hard sometimes because there is so many parts to making a puzzle. And during this project so many people need to use the lacer cutter and I heard so many things like my puzzle isn't going to be able to get cut until the last day. Or Dominic and I just have to cut our puzzle with the jigsaw. Witch would be one completely insane and two super hard. Another struggle i have when Dominic isn't on task is making sure I have all the pictures we for the animals also all the plants. We also need facts about the plants and animals. It makes it harder to finish everything we need to get done in the 4th grade team when we have to update Ms. Lyman on the things we have done.
